Az Egyesült Államokban engedélyezték a terhesség megelőzésére szolgáló tabletták szabad árusítását a gyógyszertárakban, üzletekben és az interneten.
Az Egyesült Államok Élelmiszer- és Gyógyszerügyi Hatósága (FDA) jóváhagyta az Opillt, az első vény nélkül kapható fogamzásgátló tablettát, számolt be a The New York Times.
A tabletták várhatóan már 2024-től kaphatóak lesznek az üzletekben és az interneten az Egyesült Államokban. Az Opill gyógyszer csak egy hormont tartalmaz – a progesztint.
Megjegyezték, hogy ez a vény nélkül kapható fogamzásgátló gyógyszer lesz a leghatékonyabb. A hatóság biztosított arról, hogy a tabletták hatékonyabbak a terhesség megelőzésében, mint az óvszer, spermicid és más, vény nélkül kapható eszköz.
