A jelentés szerint Zelenszkij azt írta: „Védőink. Frontvonal. Ma azért vagyok itt, hogy köszöntsem katonáinkat a tengerészgyalogság napján. Dicsőség mindenkinek, aki védi Ukrajnát!”







Az elnök külföldi látogatásáról visszatérve a tengerészgyalogság napja alkalmából látogatta meg az ukrán fegyveres erők előretolt állásait a Vuhledar – Marjinka védelmi övezetben a Donyeck megyében. A legfőbb főparancsnok a helyszínen meghallgatta Jurij Szodol altábornagynak, a tengerészgyalogság parancsnokának a jelentését a frontszakasz helyzetről.



Zelenszkij elbeszélgetett a katonákkal is, és részt vett az ünnepségen. Mint bejelentette, új, korszerű eszközökkel és fegyverekkel felszerelt dandárokat hoznak létre. Egyúttal kitüntette a katonákat, akik a rendezvény végén átadták az elnöknek a zászlójukat, emlékplakettjüket és a tengerészgyalogság összes egységének jelvényeit.









































Ukrajnában ma a tengerészgyalogság napját ünneplik. Ez az ukrán fegyveres erők tengerészgyalogosainak a szakmai ünnepe, amelyet minden év május 23-án ünnepelnek. Az ünnepet 2014-ben alapították, de 2014 és 2017 között november 16-án ünnepelték. Az ünnep hivatalos hatályba lépésének időpontját, május 23-át 2018-ban Ukrajna elnökének 145/2018. számú, Az ukrán tengerészgyalogság napjáról kiadott rendelete állapította meg. Ezen a napon rakták le a modern ukrán tengerészgyalogság alapjait. Ma a modern tengerészgyalogság hősiesen védi Ukrajnát az orosz megszállók ellen.
