Mint ahogyan arról már mi is beszámoltunk, az Ukrajnában dúló háború kárvallottjai számára tervezi felajánlani 122 millió forintos pénzdíjának nagy részét Krausz Ferenc magyar kutató, akit az idén fizikai Nobel-díjjal tüntetett ki a Svéd Királyi Akadémia.
Krausz Ferenc a Magyar Tudományos Akadémiának adott interjújában úgy fogalmazott: rendszeresen jár Magyarországra, a háború pedig ide sokkal közelebb van, mint Németországhoz, ahol ő egyébként főállásban kutat. Amit itt az elmúlt másfél év alatt a háború következményeiből látott, meggyőzte arról, hogy ahogy csak tud, segíteni szeretné az orosz agresszió áldozatait és családtagjaikat.
Krausz arra is gondolt, hogy önkéntesként elmegy az ukrán határra segíteni a menekültek fogadását, de végül úgy döntött, hogy kiterjedt tudományos kapcsolatrendszerén keresztül többet tud tenni ezekért az emberekét, mint személyesen: egy jó ideje már ezért a Science4People nevű jótékonysági szervezeten keresztül adakozik ő maga is a háború kárvallottjai számára, ahogy ugyanerre buzdítja az őt körülvevő tudományos közeg szereplőit is.
Két legutóbbi díjam, a tavalyi Wolf-díj és az idei Frontiers of Knowledge díj összegét – az előbbit teljes egészében, az utóbbit jelentős részben – felajánlottam az alapítványnak, és hasonlóan szeretnék a Nobel-díjjal kapcsolatban is eljárni – fejtette ki a Nobel-díjas kutató az MTA-nak.
