A brit kincstár összesen 2100 mobiltelefont adott ki a dolgozóknak tavaly, de ezek közül 117-nél minden adat elveszett, miután a készülékek tulajdonosa többszöri próbálkozás után is rossz PIN-kódot adott meg – írta a The Guardian cikkére hivatkozva a HVG.
A helytelen PIN-kódok miatt a telefonok zár alá kerülnek, így a felhasználó csak (a gyári) visszaállítással, vagyis az eszközön lévő minden beállítás törlésével tud hozzáférni a mobilhoz. A brit kormányt érintő kellemetlenség a PA Media hírügynökség által indított adatkikérés után derült ki.
A The Guardian szerint az érintettek között van a minisztérium államtitkára, Tom Scholar is. Esetében azért is kínos az ügy, mert Scholar korábban kormányzati ügyekben többször is egyeztetett a volt brit miniszterelnökkel, David Cameronnal. Scholar állítólag SMS-eket küldött a korábbi kormányfőnek, de hogy pontosan miről váltottak üzenetet, az nem ismert.
A baki során bekövetkezett adattörlés miatt ugyanis ezek a szövegek is eltűntek.
A brit kormányzat munkatársainak különleges szabályokat kell betartaniuk a mobiltelefonjaikon lévő adatok, illetve kontaktinformációk miatt. Ezek közé tartozik a PIN-kód és a különféle jelszavak gyakori megváltoztatása is. Ám ha ezekre nem emlékeznek, rosszul ütik be őket, a készülékek automatikusan lezáródnak – és csak azután lehet őket újból használatba venni, ha az informatikusok feloldják. Ez utóbbi pedig a készülék tartalmának törlésével lehetséges.
Scholar azzal védekezett, hogy tisztában volt a rossz PIN-kód beírásának kockázataival, de mit mondta, ő is csak ember, és elfelejthet dolgokat.
