A kis repülő emlős (Rhinolophus hillorum) továbbra is él Ruanda Nyugwe esőerdejében – közölte a felfedezést tevő szervezet.

Namíbia a világ egyetlen országa, ahol teljesen szabadon, körülkerítetlen területen élnek keskenyszájú orrszarvúk.

Ezek a főemlősök vadon többnyire 40 évig élnek, állatkertben olykor 50 évig.

Jacinta Shackleton Instagram-oldalán is megosztotta a nőstény takaró polipról készült lenyűgöző felvételeket. A leírásban arról tájékoztatott, hogy ezek a tengeri fajok teljes életciklusukat a nyílt óceánban töltik, ezért olyan nehéz észlelni őket.
A takaró polipok rendkívül ritkák.

A halak, a rákfélék, a puhatestűek megváltoztatják élőhelyüket, átlagosan 55 méterrel mélyebbre vándorolnak a Földközi-tengerben.
Emiatt a térség ideális terep annak tanulmányozására, miként alkalmazkodnak a fajok a globális felmelegedéshez – idézte Jonathan Belmaker professzort az egyetem közleménye.

A Veterinary Record című állatorvostudományi folyóiratban publikált tanulmányukban a kutatók bemutatták azokat az eseteket, amelyekben legelőször azonosították a SARS-CoV-2 először Nagy-Britanniában megjelent alfa variánsát (B.1.1.7.).

A Humboldt-pingvinek (Spheniscus humboldti) állománya világszerte folyamatosan csökken. Jelenleg körülbelül 12 000 pár maradt, és a faj szerepel a Nemzetközi Természetvédelmi Unió Vörös Könyvében is.
Ukrajnában kizárólag a harkovi állatkertben tekinthetőek meg.
