Filoz\u00f3fiai \u00e9s teol\u00f3giai tanulm\u00e1nyait k\u00f6vet\u0151en 1969-ben szentelt\u00e9k papp\u00e1. 1997-ben szentelt\u00e9k p\u00fcsp\u00f6kk\u00e9, 1998-ban pedig Buenos Aires \u00e9rseke lett. B\u00edboross\u00e1 2001. febru\u00e1r 21-\u00e9n nevezte ki II. J\u00e1nos P\u00e1l p\u00e1pa, 2005-t\u0151l 2011-ig pedig az Argentin P\u00fcsp\u00f6ki Konferencia eln\u00f6ke volt. Ferenc p\u00e1pa 2013-ban ker\u00fclt Szent P\u00e9ter tr\u00f3nj\u00e1ra, miut\u00e1n XVI.
