Az Egyesült Államok kezdetnek két NASAMS mobil légvédelmi rakétarendszert szállít Ukrajnának, amelyek mindegyikében akár nyolc indító is lehet – jelentette be Jurij Ihnat, az ukrán fegyveres erők légierejének szóvivője keddi sajtótájékoztatóján, számolt be az rbc.ua hírportál.
A jelentés szerint Ihnat elmondta: „először két rakétarendszert kapunk. Ezekben külön-külön akár nyolc indító is lehet, valamint egy parancsnoki állomást, egy radart is kapunk, amely látni fogja a célokat. A NASAMS rendszer tulajdonképpen a mi rakétaosztályunk, legfeljebb nyolc indítóval.”
A szóvivő hozzátetette: „igen, először Ukrajna két rendszert kap, majd figyelembe kell venni a termelési kapacitást, és minden lépést meg kell tenni a diplomáciai fronton, hogy a világ továbbra is segítsen nekünk ezekkel a rendszerekkel.” Azt is elmondta, hogy a NASAMS Ukrajnának való átadásáról szóló tárgyalások a teljes körű háború első napjaiban kezdődtek, de az ilyen szállítmányokkal kapcsolatos döntések nem születnek gyorsan.
A NASAMS egy mobil légvédelmi rakétarendszer. Ezt a légvédelmi rendszert rakéták, repülőgépek és egyéb légi célpontok megsemmisítésére tervezték alacsony és közepes magasságban. A NASAMS a norvég Norwegian Kongsberg cég és az amerikai Raytheon közös fejlesztése.
