Nagy-Britannia nem rendelkezik azokkal az F-16-os vadászgépekkel, amelyeket Ukrajna kér. Az ország hatóságai azonban beleegyeztek az ukrán pilóták kiképzésébe.
Ukrajnából már elindultak Nagy-Britanniába a nyugati vadászgépek irányításával kapcsolatos képzésre a pilóták első csoportjai, jelentette be Denisz Smihal miniszterelnök a Telegramon június 5-én.
Elmondta, hogy találkozott James Cleverley brit külügyminiszterrel. A találkozó főbb témái a fegyveres támogatás, Ukrajna újjáépítése és a NATO-ba való integráció voltak.
„Köszönöm a megingathatatlan támogatást. A vezető szerepet a vadászgépkoalíció létrehozásában és a hajlandóságot pilótáink kiképzésére. Az első csoportok már elindultak Nagy-Britanniába” – írta Smihal.
Hozzátette, hogy a csatatéren harcoló fegyveres erőket a nyugati normák szerint építik újjá. Ezért a szövetség csúcstalálkozóján, amelyet július 11–12-én Vilniusban tartanak, hazánknak meg kell ismernie a NATO jövőjét.
Smihal felszólította a brit minisztert, hogy szigorítsa meg az Oroszország elleni szankciókat, többek között a kettős célú áruk exportját illetően.
„Üdvözöljük Nagy-Britannia részvételét a gyors újjáépítésben. Többek között hat híd helyreállításában a kijevi régióban. Számítunk a kompenzációs mechanizmus gyors kidolgozására. Oroszországnak fizetnie kell mindenrombolásért” – tette hozzá a kormányfő.
